Study: April heatwaves in southern Europe caused by global warming

‘We’re going to see more heat waves like this in the future’

The chances of extreme April heat waves in Spain, Portugal and North-Africa has become 100 times larger due to climate warming whereas in the past this was virtually impossible. This appears from a study in which several scientists from different countries participated, including the Dutch KNMI.

According to the scientists, “these temperatures in April would have been virtually impossible in the days before global warming” and “we are going to see more heat waves like this in the future.”

Faster rise in temperature

The study also shows that temperatures in Europe are rising faster than previously predicted.

By the way, the study is not yet peer reviewed.
