With state support, rhetoric similar to that used by the former leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, Nigel Farage, to scare voters about mass migration during the Brexit referendum has been deployed across Hungary, seemingly with the sole aim of whipping up racial tension and hostility to migrants, and to demonize George Soros, a tactic laced with anti-Semitism, now being used by the alt-right globally.
In the coming weeks and months, the international community, and the United States in particular, must heed our warning and act: Hungary’s government is a threat to the rules-based international order.
European governments and the US have a moral obligation to intervene. We cannot stand aside and let populist, far-right governments drag democratic European states into Vladimir Putin’s orbit and undermine the postwar international norms.

Interessant: een ultra-pro-EU-activist (Guy Verhofstadt), die zegt zich enorm veel zorgen te maken om het verlies van vrijheid en democratie, smeekt nu de VS(!) om ‘iets te doen tegen Hongarije’, wat een mede-EU-lidstaat is, met gewoon een democratisch verkozen regering.
Alsof je de Russen vraagt even orde op zaken te stellen in Oekraïne omdat de corruptie er te welig tiert.
Let ook op hoe Verhofstadt in deze hallucinante en hysterische opiniebijdrage aan de Amerikaanse Amerika-hatende desinformatiezender CNN (een soort Amerikaanse Sputnik) het opzichtig opneemt voor miljardair George Soros. ‘Orbán heeft het gemunt op de Central European University’ (gesticht door Soros) en ‘Orbán demoniseert George Soros ‘(wat kennelijk ‘anti-semitisch’ is en ook nog eens ‘wereldwijd wordt gebruikt door de alt-right’, al ontbreken voorbeelden en onderbouwing hiervan geheel).
Het is maar dat u het weet: wie aan George Soros komt is een anti-semiet en moet worden bestreden door het machtigste land op aarde, desnoods midden in de eigen soevereine Verenigde Staten van Europa.
Kunnen die EU-parlementsverkiezingen wellicht ook worden vervroegd? Elke minuut dat Verhofstadt er nog zit is een minuut teveel.
