Parents are furious after the Walsall Academy in Birmingham, England, introduced “gender-neutral toilets.
The parents say they are concerned about the privacy of pupils because there are fewer toilet cubicles than before, but instead more “open toilet areas” that can thus be used by both boys, girls and gender-neutral pupils.
Meanwhile, one of the students, a girl, reportedly has a urinary tract infection because, like many fellow students, she no longer wants to go to the restroom at school.
In a statement, the school let it be known that the new toilets actually make the “students feel safer because previously students were bullied in enclosed toeilet cubicles” and that the student council “sees the gender-neutral toilets as a good thing.
By the way, there are still “traditional toilets” in the school.
