A German couple who emigrated to southern Portugal years ago have become victims of a brutal murder. The couple, aged 79 and 71, lived in a country house in the hills of Baleizão.
Their bodies were discovered on their property a month after their deaths, after their son raised the alarm.

Police have confirmed that the victims were slain and that two suspects have been arrested, a 37-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man who were staying with the couple at the time of the murder.
According to Portuguese police, the relationship between the couple and the two suspects had ‘deteriorated’, but the exact motive is still unclear.
