By Bert Brussen, TPO – Once again, disturbing incidents have occurred in Ter Apel with asylum seekers residing in the asylum seekers’ center Ter Apel.

On Thursday evening, in Ter Apel, a 27-year-old Algerian-bornasylum seeker was detained by police because, in the middle of the shopping center, he showed his dick to young girls.

That same evening the local Jumbo was also hit. There the police had to remove three asylum seekers, although it is unclear what exactly was going on.

‘Situation to escalate’

Speaking to the Dagblad van het Noorden, an employee of the Jumbo let it be known that “the situation is escalating” and that measures against the nuisance do not seem to be helping.

Meanwhile, some Ter Apel residents want to organize a “neighborhood watch. Last week, partly due to ‘Neighborhood Watch Ter Apel,’ demonstrated with banners against the ongoing nuisance caused by asylum seekers.

Also recently wthere were incidents with asylum seekers on the infamous bus line 73 from Emmen to Ter Apel where “single young men,” mostly from safe countries, often cause very serious nuisance because they refuse to pay for a bus ride.

Faster deportation of safe countrymen

.
The mayor of Westerwolde, which includes Ter Apel, has since made agreements with State Secretary Van der Burg (VVD) to combat the nuisance, but so far little seems to have changed. This is also because one of the most important measures to be taken measures, the faster deportation of safe-landers, cannot be implemented until June 1.

Even then, it remains to be seen whether all these measures are legally feasible. Legal experts have already questioned the feasibility of such promises and point to human rights treaties and the constitution when it comes to, for example, group bans for asylum seekers only.
