Pas geleden werd er nog bekend gemaakt dat de nieuwe Batman Vs. Superman film is verlaat naar mei 2016. Ben Affleck, die Batman gaat spelen, sprak al vaker over de rol, maar in een recent interview ging hij in op de versie van Batman die hij gaat spelen.
“I don’t want to give away too much, but the idea for the new Batman is to redefine him in a way that doesn’t compete with the Bale and Chris Nolan Batman but still exists within the Batman canon. It will be an older and wiser version, particularly as he relates to Henry Cavill‘s Superman character,” he explained, adding that he first turned down the role until he learned more about the part. “It was a unique take on Batman that was still consistent with the mythology. It made me excited. All of a sudden I had a reading of the character. When people see it, it will make more sense than it does now or even than it did to me initially.”
Affleck laat dus weten dat de versie van Batman die hij gaat spelen totaal anders is dan de Batman die Christian Bale neerzette. Waar de Batman van Bale aan het begin van de trilogie nog een rookie was, zal de Batman van Affleck een stuk ouder en wijzer zijn, ook in de manier waarop hij naar Superman kijkt. De film zal het personage vanuit een ander perspectief bekijken, maar ze blijven toch trouw aan de mythologie van Batman.
In hetzelfde interview ging hij in op de kritiek wat betreft zijn casting als The Caped Crusader.
“I understand I’m at a disadvantage with the internet. If I thought the result would be another ‘Daredevil,’ I’d be out there picketing myself. [laughs] Why would I make the movie if I didn’t think it was going to be good and that I could be good in it?”
Naast Ben Affleck als Batman zal ook Henry Cavill als Superman te zien zijn. Het vervolg op Man Of Steel zal in mei 2016 in de bioscopen verschijnen.
