A 38-year-old man stabbed two girls aged seven and eight on Wednesday afternoon in the schoolyard of an evangelical elementary school in Berlin.
One of the victims is in bad shape and is in critical condition.
The perpetrator was able to be apprehended immediately.

According to witnesses, the man was quietly smoking a cigarette on a bench when he suddenly climbed over the fence surrounding the schoolyard and began stabbing two girls who were playing table tennis.
The perpetrator then appeared to calmly wait for thepolizei.
There were reportedly “indications” that the perpetrator had a “psychiatric disorder”.
For now, the polizei does not assume that the perpetrator and victims knew each other. Nor does the polizei assume, for the time being, that terror with a religious or political motive.
