Number of illegal migrants in EU up 60% in year

In one year, the number of illegal migrants in the EU has increased nearly 60, accounting for more than a million people. Most of them are men. This reports Eurostat.

The illegal immigrants are mostly from Syria and Afghanistan, but also from Morocco.

North Africa

Of those who had to be deported, the majority were from Algeria and Morocco as well as Pakistan.

The countries on Europe’s external borders in particular have the most illegal immigrants: Hungary, Croatia, Greece, Italy, as well as France and Germany.

Minority

7% of the total number of illegal immigrants in the EU are minors.
