Wednesday, ten Serbian schools received bomb threats, the Serbian Education Ministry reported. These reports come amid security concerns following two mass shootings earlier this month, including one at an elementary school.

The education ministry indicated that 78 primary and 37 secondary schools in Belgrade received e-mail warnings on Wednesday that suspected explosive devices had been placed1.

Students evacuated

Classes were postponed and students evacuated while police checked buildings. There are no reports that bombs were found in any of the schools, and police have yet to issue a report.

Similar multiple threats have been sent to school addresses in Serbia and other countries in the region in the past, and each time have proved false.

Nevertheless, the threats may further heighten security fears after the May 3 and 4 shootings that killed 10 people and injured 21. Authorities have already deployed police to schools and launched a firearmcrackdown.
